Degree of public life on the internet
Prelude: Yesterday, when I had a private talk with a professor at FHD, my friend was waiting and asked if she should leave the room. I laughed and said there were no secrets.
This is how it is.
Every now and then, a contact who was a pure business contact until that point, suddenly tells me that he saw my (non-pro) websites (like this one) and asks whether I am not afraid of providing too much private information online, be it text or image. I am not!
There is nothing to hide. I would not put up party pictures that make people or myself look ridiculous, and don’t tell the internet who I have a crush on or priviledge them in my online life.
In general, people expect my online life to exactly reflect everything there is or has happened, but that is not true. Sure, you guys are allowed to know that I am somewhat crazy and hyperactive, and that is part of understanding how I work (with both meanings). What I do with this online is merely a way of coping with my life. I need the output.
Plus, I am not so good at responding to “how have you been doing”-emails from my friends all over the world. My blogs are good way for them to get a better picture of what’s going on with me.
Business people, just look at my work and see that I need what I do to produce what I make. Do not feel offended or sucked into my private life. Be as professional about it as I am with you. Thank you very much.
Oh yea, and also, this text is not an excuse for anything.
