i once asked this question, turns out they do it so the mag doesnt’ look too outdated when it reaches it’s farthest destination

I’d say it’s even worse for monthly magazines. German publishers seem to have taken over this behaviour, at least in some fields (computers!)

Possibly for delivery times. It takes forever to get magazines via a subscription here.
