Boarding completed, plane not full. I think I have found the trick of how to get a whole row for myself: I reserve my seat right behind someone, by the window, but make sure the row behind me is still empty. The next person will book the row behind me then (and not a seat next to me) and the next one will stay away from that whole block. Or place themselves on the outside of it. This has worked several times now.
I suspect Berlin airport TXL’s seats have been paid for by the airlines, in order to make people feel great as soon as they get to sit down on the plane. (They are made of an uncomfortable metal shell.)
