what type of camera that you usually use, and what kind of lens? — Asked by photoismemory

Hello to all the askers who wanted to know this.

I use a Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III — not the newest anymore, but still the most grown-up EOS. It has been by my side since early 2007. I like its sturdiness and of course the picture quality. To me, a camera is a pure work-tool, I do not search back and forth on the internet and therefore do not know a lot about specs in detail.

My favorite lens is 24-70mm by Canon. It can make the photo look as if the spectator is part of the scene.

By the way, if you are looking which camera fits you (some people asked this as well), there are SnapSort and LensHero. Always remember, it is not the camera that takes photos, it is the photographer.

Quite the opposite to last week’s impressions. I am in Cape Town these days. Photographed one of the biggest bushfires today.

(Real photos will follow after my return.)

What do you use for monitor calibration? I'm stuck between the spyder and xrite colorimeters. — Asked by kevinmosley

I have tried them all and was never satisfied. Ended up using my eyes and a color chart and sample image print.

If anybody would like to show me how it works and with which device, I am open to a new solution.

lumioblog:

Another glimpse at Lumio and how it will look/work.

Mareen went to St. Petersburg (Russia) last week, and she is privately sharing her photographic memories with her family and friends.

Lumio is still in closed beta. Why? Because we do not want to throw out a half-done product. Our testers are working hand in hand with the developers and are optimizing flows and rounding of corners at the time.

Occasionally, we are sending out invites to interested photographers and designers. If you would like to be considered, please tell us here. But make sure to include a good reason why and your email address.

http://lum.io will be so great once it is all done and everybody can sign up! I use it every single day.

Be Lumio’s friend on Facebook and follow the blog on Tumblr! You can read more about how I had the idea to create Lumio here.

Yay, my fav interfacer Patrick Beser was part of the team who created Tumblr’s new start page. They used my likeness to present their mobile device section. And I see other friends in there, too.By the way, I love how the best blogging platform out there has in-housed so many of those internet acquaintences of mine.
Oh, and here is the original picture. It is on Flickr because back then, Tumblr could not do high-res images. But everything is better now :)
