so, i have a bunch of stupid stamps »for different occasions«, most likely to be sent around within the family.
i like to use them ironically. for example, when i send a notice of cancellation (of a sercive) i use »congratulations!«, when i start a new service i put on »farewell!«, and when i ask a company to change or do something for me i like send them »affectionate regards«. invoices get a...

the rhetorical question mark
or »percontation point« was invented by henry denham in the 1580s and was used at the end of a rhetorical question; however, its use died out in the 1600s. it was the reverse of an ordinary question mark, so that instead of the main opening pointing back into the sentence, it opened away from it.
